In the latest episode of the Weird Tales Radio Show we continue our urban fantasy fiction theme by revisiting an earlier interview with G.S. Denning, the author of the Warlock Holmes novels plus Janie has been looking at the weird legend of the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary...
Kick back and relax with this week's Americana Music Radio Show #49 – all the latest new releases plus some classics. Made in England for Americana music lovers everywhere.
I'm still making submissions to agents – and complying with their various requirements – but then I encountered one agency which proudly announced they were non-digital and only accepted hard-copy submissions sent by post, you know, the snail-mail system people used 20 years ago.
But there was more as they also asked for the following information... * Your full-length CV or résumé, regardless of whether you have writing experience. We would like to know about your career, where you have lived, where you have travelled and your education. * The current word count, the date you started, and the number of drafts so far. And, finally... * Your choice of font for your novel is all important. Instead of sticking to your old familiar favourite, you need to review the wonderful selection of fonts that are readily available. Select one that seems particularly appropriate to the period or atmosphere of your work. Your novel will be enhanced by your discriminating choice of font and it will add some character to your submission. Editors and publishers can be intrigued when they have a typescript in a font that they are not already overly familiar with. If in doubt, print out a page of your typescript in different fonts and ask a jury of your friends and family to say which font works best. Having selected your font, use it consistently and do not mix it with others. Actually my novel is set in the Middle Ages so I'm guessing a really heavy Gothic style would be most appropriate – albeit impossible to read.
In the latest Weird Tales Radio Show we hear from American author Morgan Daimler about the Fae - that’s the Faerie Folk and Irish folklore, including the goddess Morrigan. We also look at the phenomenon of Death by Selfie (or Instagramicide) and how not to become Spiderman. And yes, we actually had gremlins interrupt the recording session.
Recently described by one US radio station as "one of the best shows in the world when it comes to new Americana music" this week's Americana Music Radio Show is almost wall-to-wall new releases. You can hear it here now on Mixcloud.
Rare footage from inside No.10 Downing Street showing the Cabinet reviewing the next steps for the government's Coronavirus, Recession and Brexit strategies.
In Episode 126 of the Weird Tales Radio Show we hear from pop culture expert Arlen Schumer on why Sean Connery was always the best James Bond – and how nobody did it better after the first four Bond movies. Plus we have an interview with Ben Aaronovitch on his life as a Doctor Who scriptwriter and author of the best selling Rivers of London urban fantasy books series. The Weird Tales Radio Show now goes out across over 30 FM & internet radio stations + YouTube & all major podcast platforms.
