It's the start of another week and here is our roundup of the latest weird and WTF news, including... is coke (the drug, not the drink) vegan - apparently "no" as growing it had a detrimental impact on the environment PLUS the Satanic Temple is close to settling a legal dispute with Warner Brothers/Netflix over the use of an image of Baphomet in the Sabrina the Teenage Witch reboot PLUS witches now outnumber presbyterians in the United States – apparently it is all down to "millennial women embracing of new-age spirituality, mindfulness, meditation, and yoga". Stories via the BBC, Business Insider and the Daily Mail.
Time to get serious now with a long read from my old friend Gregory Bufithis about Big Tech...
Just in time for the Weird Weekend: Call that a Ripping Yarn? Frankly I don't care if you are abducted by aliens!
Boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl and spends £14,000 on wedding ceremony. What could possibly go wrong? How about she is a hologram and her only physical manifestation is as a fuzzy-felt doll? Cue David Bowie singing Modern Love or Gary Numan with Are Friends Electric...
In our roundup of weird and WTF news, we play with a new online simulator that shows what would happen if a nuclear bomb went off in your neighbourhood. You can change the location and the magnitude of the blast. And, we have a story, via our friends at Ancient Origins, on how a 3000-year-old mummy came to be issued with a passport!
