And it is the start of another week and time for the latest Insider Skinny (and yes we have added a final 'R' to Inside). Our stories include: when hi-tech meets crime-busting + a preview of the world's largest witchcraft festival + a preview of the new version of Mortal Kombat. And watch out for tomorrow when we have rock 'n' roll dwarfs!
We start with a story that sounds like a plot for a Mission Impossible movie, with a gangland hitman being caught out by data recorded on his smartwatch but it's a true story that was exposed last week at a murder trial at Liverpool Crown Court in the UK. Story via The Register.

The Iceman cometh, his smartwatch told the cops: Hitman jailed after gizmo links him to Brit gangland slayings

Avid runner and hitman Mark Fellows was this week found guilty of murder after being grassed up by his Garmin watch. Fellows, 38, was convicted of the murder of two men by Liverpool Crown Court in England. His accomplice, Steven Boyle, 36, said to have served as a spotter in one of the killings, was also convicted of murder.

Curated by English barrister and Reuters correspondent turned editor, author, award-winning tech journalist, storyteller, and sometime werewolf hunter Charles Christian. He writes, he drinks tea, he knows things. This site also has links to Charles' books and the Weird Tales Show videos and podcasts.

Descended from a motley crew of smugglers and witches, Christian was born a chime-child with a caul and grew up in a haunted medieval house by the harbourside in the Yorkshire seaside town of Scarborough.

According to folklore a caul-shrouded chime-child can't drown at sea but can see and talk to faerie folk and also has protection against spells cast by malevolent sorcerers. And yes, he was once commissioned to go on a werewolf hunt on the night of a full moon by a newspaper. Spoiler alert: he didn't find one. (Or it didn't find him.)
