Just about 48 hours to go until the winner of the 2016 SCI-FI-LONDON / Urban Fantasist 48 Hour Flash Fiction Challenge is announced (at 7:00pm on Wednesday 4th May at the Stratford East Picturehouse in London E15) so let's meet our panel of judges...

Robert Grant, who returns to the SFL48Flash judging panel, is the Literary Editor for SCI-FI-LONDON, a former Clarke Award juror and author of How to Write the Science Fiction Film.

Paul Kane is the award-winning, bestselling author and editor of over 60 books, including the Arrowhead trilogy (gathered together in the sellout Hooded Man omnibus, revolving around a post-apocalyptic version of Robin Hood. His non-fiction books include The Hellraiser Films and Their Legacy and Voices in the Dark, and his genre journalism has appeared in the likes of SFX, Rue Morgue and DeathRay. He is currently the Co-Chair of the UK Chapter of the Horror Writers Association.

Gareth L. Powell is an award-winning writer from the UK. His alternate history thriller Ack-Ack Macaque won the 2013 BSFA (British Science Fiction Association) Award for Best Novel, and his story Ride The Blue Horse was shortlisted for the 2015 Award, in the short fiction category. Gareth’s short stories have appeared in a host of magazines and anthologies, including Interzone, Solaris Rising 3, and The Year’s Best Science Fiction

The judging panel was chaired by the Urban Fantasist's Charles Christian – and you'll be relieved to know that Gareth Powell's alter ego Ack-Ack Macaque was not one of the judges!
